Replication in M/S Access using Pipex 4.1

M/S Access programmers can use Pipex 4.1 to replicate information between Access databases distributed over several computers, applications or geographic locations.

Pipex 4.1 provides complete flexibility and control over the sending and processing of update transactions among multiple databases and computers.

Why use Pipex 4.1 instead of M/S Access built-in replication?

M/S Access's replication feature is easy to use, but limited. Consider using Pipex 4.1 when you require programmatic control over the transactions sent between databases.

For example, our sofware application for manufacturers of building materials processes all inventory transactions at a central location, and publishes inventory balances to all branch depots. Order requests are moved between locations using Pipex 4.1 message server. Thus, inventories at all depots are linked to maximize customer service. This is all accomplished in a Microsoft Access/ Visual Basic environment.

Transactions can be moved on a low-bandwidth WAN, or even by e-mail, or removeable disk for off-WAN sites.

Pipex 4.1 can also be used to move transactions between MS Access environment and other databases such as SQL Server and Oracle. SSI has also developed connections for older legacy systems including PICK and Progress. Contact us for further information.

Pipex has been used in our products since the early 1990s, and the current version has been beta-tested for the last year. (See the software applications section for products using Pipex.)
